Editorial - MilleSabor

May has seen a lot of personal and personnel changes - a good sign as it shows that GEN is still evolving, which again is a sign of life ... Holiday-season is looming ahead and with many GENs travelling abroad and the always present "significant other" who somehow insists that you spend your time outside in the sun rather than in front of a computer things will supposedly slow down a bit in the months to come.

Mille acknowledged as leader in Lord of the Rings Online - MilleSabor

[LotRO] what had been intended as a makeshift-solution has been legally confirmed by leading GEN-members: Mille had become leader of GEN's Lord of the Rings-section only due to the fact that it was him who purchased the guild-charter. Since GEN wasn't expected to ever exceed just a few members there was no need to think about proper leadership anyway.

Mille (whose main character in LotRO is called "Thalassar") decided to agree when he was asked to take over leadership for a longer term than anticipated - at least as long as GEN maintains the relaxed approach towards gaming that it currently holds in Star Wars Galaxies.

GEN stepping into gear in Lord of the Rings Online - MilleSabor

[LotRO] the number of GEN-members in Lord of the Rings Online has vastly surpassed expectations: Recent polls had shown that only very few GENs were actually interested in that game. More and more GENs have flocked from WoW to LotRO albeit they don't intend to play it as main MMORPG but use it as welcome break from raiding in WoW. This seems further supported by the fact that no SWG-player except Mille has tried LotRO yet.

Spacky to become first new GEN-member in LotRO - MilleSabor

[LotRO] we very heartily welcome our newest member Spacky who will be a nice addition to our guild in Lord of the Rings Online - he is also the first Czech in the guild, thus showing that we are truly an international bunch of friends.

Sock transfers leadership of US-WoW to Kianna - MilleSabor

[WoW-US] due to some real life issues (it may or may not be the fact that he still hasn't won the lottery...) that prevent Sock from leading GEN's North-American World of Warcraft-section according to his ideas, he designated Kianna as his successor. We wish them both the best of luck!

Leadership in WoW-Europe changes too - MilleSabor

[WoW-Europe] Kwambus has also decided to step down from leadership of Generations' WoW-Europe-section in favour of Aviad. Both of them are accompanied by our best wishes and a deep gratitude for Kwambus' indefatiguable efforts.

Beastmaster-publish hits Star Wars Galaxies - Tornadium

[SWG] SWG's recent publish introduced (or rather returned) Beastmaster (just another word for "Creature Handler" and "Bio-Engineer") into the game - this is what Tornadium, guild-leader in SWG, has to say about it:

We have at least 2 people in guild who have managed to create pets already. The system is actually a nice system if a little overpowering at first till you understand the process.

We are moving from strength to strength as far as the pets go. Soon we will own the planet of Dantooine with all our pets.

It seems to have been a nice expansion to the game. As we move further forward into the game with beasts we shall see how much part of your life they become.

The pets have feelings and moods, they need feeding and loving. They level by experience gained from fighting. They also gave us a new quest series for CL85 to 90 toons.

We also have a new Rebel Theme park to have a go at which is quite tough now with the upgrade to the elites and double gold elites.

Mille stepped down as mayor - MilleSabor

[SWG] Since Mille has been asked to take over leadership-responsibilities in Lord of the Rings Online it was evident that he was not able to maintain mayorship of New Jove's simultaneously as well. He therefore decided to resign as mayor. Cobacca's smear campaign to denounce Mille while running for the office himself is already in effect.

Further personnel-changes in SWG - MilleSabor

[SWG] We unfortunately had to remove Aewat from guild-roster because of excessive begging for money in guild-chat. This is the first occasion that we had to eject a player from GEN but while we understand ourselves as helpful players who are always ready to support those in need we cannot condone greed in guild-chat.

On a more happy note: Onesma has decided to return to SWG. While she intends to stay for 14 days only we hopefully will have the opportunity to see her more often.

Fëond... äbroten hæfdon, sib-æðelingas - Kepec

(They... kinsmen together, had destroyed the dragon)
- Beowulf, 2706 - 2709.

[WOW-Europe] For the benefit those members currently not involved in World of Warcraft, Generations have been plugging away at a 10 man "Raid" zone known as Karazhan - in two teams of 10 - led ably by the Officers. Karazhan, so the story goes, was the home of a character in Warcraft lore known as "Medivh", a wizard who, as a child, was possessed by Sargeras, a demon lord, and urged by malign forces to open the "Dark Portal" to allow for the bloodthirsty Orcish Horde to invade the world of "Azeroth" from their home world of "Draenor". From our first raid in Karazhan in February, quick progress was made, with illustrious foes such as "Attumen" (a big horseman riding his bony horse, Midnight), "Nightbane" (a dragon of bony fire), "Prince Malchezzar" (a large humanoid) and, curiously, "Dorothy" (from the Wizard of Oz encounter) soon falling at our feet, urging us to take their loot and leave them in peace; the Generations bulldozer proceeded to flatten most of Karazhan.

There was however, one boss remaining, a phantom dragon known as Netherspite. An encounter not for the average raid, it involves very technical play and focus, with a complex array of skills needed to ensure a successful demise of our foe. On 7th May, buoyed by the complete clear elsewhere, and, some might argue, the beautiful singing voice of Aviad, Team Blue approached Netherspite. Thanks to previous weeks of the Keros/Kwambus' "best Jackanory voice possible", an optimistic resolve gripped the team - with our knowledge of the fight, possession of competent skill and, to be frank, charming good looks (especially those of a rather dashing young Warlock) we felt we could do it. Netherspite, however, was not going to put up his loot as easily as Attumen and Co., putting up barriers to the Generations bulldozer on previous encounters.

Hours of fierce fighting ensued, with many attempts on Netherspite, some getting the ghostly dragon down to 40%, 16% and 12% health, only to be undone by the curse of misfortune or slight mistake. Tension grew; on the 12% try, a spot of bad luck had meant that for most of the fight we were one dps (damage) class down - we were getting progressively better, and most realised that if we could only all stay alive, he was ours. Time was however not on our side, a fact further exacerbated by the fact that respawns were quickly multiplying behind us, culminating in having to kill mobs that appeared right on top of the main Raid, killing all but two members. Warlocks, as a non-WoW player may not know, are able to "Summon" people, reagent permitting, to their position, but only with the help of two others. Luckily for us, the Rogue class can move undetected by the respawns if one was "Stealthed" - skilful play by one of Generations' Dutch contingent enabled the raid to be summoned to the door of Netherspite's room for one, final attempt on the dragon. By this time it was 23:00 CET, but a concentrated silence on the TeamSpeak server and the rallying cries of Keros and Aviad gave the atmosphere a certain je ne sais quoi. Running in, Team Blue was fully " in the zone". One of the most technical fights we have encountered was met with a great show of character by the Generations team, despite the disappointment of previous attempts, and raw grit and determination saw us through to the end; the Dragon was slain to the sound of ear-splitting jubilance on TeamSpeak.
